Safety is one of our top priorities. We have secure campus entry points, regular emergency drills and guardians trained in emergency response. Our visitor management system ensures that all guests are signed in and monitored.
Our elementary school day typically begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 4:10 p.m., with after-school programs available for families needing extended care.
Registration can be done in person at the school office.
Required documents include proof of residence, birth certificate, and immunization records.

Students benefit from a one-to-one Microsoft laptop program, giving them daily access to powerful tools like Microsoft 365 and Canva for Education. Teachers use interactive smartboards such as Promethean and Newline to deliver dynamic lessons, while platforms like Canvas LMS and Nearpod support personalized instruction, real-time feedback, and student engagement. Classrooms are also equipped with audio enhancement systems to ensure every student can hear clearly, improving focus and accessibility. These tools foster collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking, preparing students for success in a digital world while promoting responsible digital citizenship.

Welcome to J.D. Floyd Elementary School - Home of the Dolphins!
As the proud principal of this exceptional school, I am honored to lead a community where students are celebrated, supported and inspired to grow. At J.D. Floyd, we pride ourselves at cultivating a warm, family-friendly environment where safety, respect and academic success are at the heart of everything we do.
Our school encourages the students to be their authentic selves and to explore their passions through a wide variety of enriching activities. We emphasize the importance of education, personal responsibility and mutual respect through our SPLASH expectations, which guide our daily actions and school culture.
My commitment to you is to continue the strong tradition of excellence at J.D. Floyd Elementary by fostering meaningful relationships with students, families and community partners. Together, we will focus on developing future leaders through positive role modeling and we will strive to increase student achievement through engaging, high quality instruction. We will use data with a purpose to inform and improve teaching and learning and we will promote access and equity to all by offering rigorous and inclusive educational opportunities.
